What Is Loom?

Loom is used by over 14 million individuals in 200,000 enterprises to work smarter using async video.

Loom is the most popular async video communication tool. You can record your screen, voice, and face to make an immediately shareable video in less time than it takes to send a message, thanks to its simplicity and speed.

How Does Loom Works?

Record your screen and camera.

With only a few clicks, you may start recording your screen and camera. Loom's desktop and mobile apps, as well as the Chrome extension, work on any device.

Share with a link

Simply copy and paste a link to your video wherever your receivers are, and they'll be able to watch it without having to join in or create an account.

Keep the
conversation going.

To respond to videos and keep your team engaged, use emoji replies, time-stamped comments, and interactive features.

How To Use Loom?

After you've downloaded the Loom program, you'll need to know how to use it.

Step 1: Launch the Loom App: Screen + Cam to record both the screen and the camera simultaneously. You can only record a full or portion of your screen with Screen. Only your camera is used to record a video of your face.

Step 2: Choose a Mode:

Choose how much of your screen you want Loom to record. You can choose from three options:

Full-screen recordings are available.

A window is a specific application window that is recorded.

Records that are made to order. This, however, necessitates the purchase of a pro membership.

Step 3: Customize the Recording. Choose the camera and microphone you'd want to utilize. Make sure you're utilizing high-quality tools for the greatest outcomes.

Step 4: Start Recording: To begin your session, press "Start Recording."

Step 5: Stop/Share Recording: Click the Stop Recording button once you've finished recording.

FAQs

Can I start a free trial of paid plans?
Yes, you can try our Business plan for free for 14 days. If you would like a free 14-day trial of our Enterprise plan please contact sales.

What are my payment options?
You can be billed monthly, but save 20% if you pay annually. We currently accept credit card payments, but if you are interested in paying via ACH, you can reach out to our Sales team here who can answer questions and assess your eligibility.

What is the difference between Creator Lite and Creator?
The Creator role is a paid member role with full video recording capabilities, unlimited videos, and unlimited recording – available on Business. You need at least 1 paid Creator on the Business plan before adding Creator Lite members.

Creator Lite is a free member role available on both Starter and Business plans. Creator Lite members have basic video recording features with up to 25 videos per member and up to 5 minutes in recording length. Creator Lite is also available on the Business plan. You can add up to 50 Creator Lite members to your Workspace, for free.

What happens when my team or I hit my 25 video limit on the Starter plan?
Our free Starter plan has a limit of 25 videos per member. To record more than 25 videos, you will need to delete videos or upgrade to a Business plan.

If you want to stay in the same Workspace as your team and upgrade, you can move your entire team to a Business Workspace without paying for everyone. For example, you can choose to be a Creator with unlimited videos and invite the rest of your team as Creator Lite members for free.

How does the 5-minute recording limit on the Creator Lite member role work?
Creator Lite members have a 5-minute recording limit and this role is available on both Starter and Business plans. As a Creator Lite member, you will see a count-down timer when you start recording. When the timer reaches 0 your recording will stop and create a 5-minute Loom video.

What are Workspaces and who can I add to my Workspace?
Loom is built for both teams and individuals and so all our plans (except for our special Education plan) include a team Workspace with a Personal, Shared, and Team Library for your videos and screenshots. You can invite people to your Workspace in your Workspace settings.

On Starter, you can add up to 50 Creator Lite members to your team Workspace for free. On Business, you can add both Creator Lite members and Creators to your team Workspace.

Do I get a refund if I deactivate members from my Workspace?
We'll apply a prorated credit to your account for any paid Workspace members (Creators) that are deactivated. This credit will be applied to future charges for your Workspace.

How do Screenshots work?
All our plans include screenshots. If you take a screenshot, we'll generate an instantly shareable link, and the screenshot will live in its own section of your Workspace, just as regular videos in Loom do. Read more about how to take a screenshot.

Is there a free plan for Education?
Yes. We have a dedicated free plan for teachers and students called Loom for Education. Learn more on how to get verified for a Loom for Education account here.
